Understanding Innovation in the Public Sector

22 July 2010 - London

Organisations in the public and third sectors are increasingly aware of the need to innovate – delivering new services in creative and dynamic ways, looking at old problems from a different perspective or extending performance when faced with shrinking budgets.

The imperative to innovate is being accelerated by a number of key drivers, including:

Innovation is seen as one of the key ways in which personalised services can be made a reality.  But what does this all mean?  Is innovation just a buzzword, or does it indicate a wider and deeper change in thinking about how services will be delivered?  What do practitioners and managers need to know about innovation and how to respond to it?

Whether you provide services commissioned by the public sector, or are a statutory service being asked to innovate, this course will give a thorough grounding in the theory of innovation and how to make innovation work in practice.

The course will provide an introduction to the key concepts of innovation and will give attendees all the grounding they need to make sense of this rapidly emerging field.
